This page has not yet documented all those sympathetic to the Brimelows, but it has listed some of the primary supporters of the Castle. Except for the Morgan County Commission, all others were affiliated with the Brimelows while VDARE met at the Castle.
Local Supporters of the Brimelows
While local businesses and individuals have supported the Berkeley Castle Foundation, it is not clear how many of those support the philosophy of VDARE. We do know that some people have been ardent supporters of the Brimelows since they have relocated to Berkeley Springs. We have also seen Facebook posts stating that they intend to hold less formal VDARE meetings at the castle. There exists a group of people in this town who unabashedly support the policies of VDARE.
- Mountain Laurel has been supportive of the Brimelows by selling tickets for their tours and supporting other events hosted by the Brimelows.
- The owners of Mountain Laurel also own the restaurant next door called La Vine Trattoria. It is also recently being called The Vine Trattoria.
- Denise Trent Selby has been an ardent supporter of the Brimelows and the castle during and after the time of VDARE operatons. She has continued to defend VDare when they recently hung Christmas wreathes in the town for all to see.
- Recently, the Morgan County Commission awarded a preliminary grant of $10,000 for a new roof for the castle. This sparked outrage among many local citizens who felt that given the legal and philosohical position of the Brimelows, they should be ineligible. We will update this as the grant money is or is not awarded.
